Having recorded this song once, I had to re-record it because my busy picking pattern made it sound like the wrong genre. I listend to a bunch of youtube videos of metal frontmen playing their songs on acoustic guitar (notably, Corey Taylor plays acoustic versions of lots of his songs, useful for comparing side-by-side), and my takeaway was that their picking is very sparse (maybe because, playing electric guitar, you have to be more sparse so the notes don't bleed into each other), so I adopted a sparse picking pattern that fit the song. The melody and lyrics are inspired by melodramatic metal songs (listen to Weird Al Yancovic' Angry White Boy Polka to get an idea).

The guitar is tuned down 2 half tones. The chord progression is (in B minor) Bm G D A | Em Em G A for the verse and chorus, and Em Em Bm A for the bridge.
